The Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival (TBBHF) is Southwest Florida’s premier cultural event and destination location. This 10-Day, family friendly, cultural experience focuses on health, education, economic, social empowerment and the arts. The signature 2-Day Music Fest, which takes place the weekend before and ends the weekend of the MLK Holiday; and features local and nationally recognized musicians, artists, speakers, and craftspeople. TBBHF is organized by the Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival, a 501 c3, Florida non-profit corporation.  The event for the entire community and visiting tourist to our area. 

Annually in January the weekend before to the weekend of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.  

If you’re traveling into Tampa, Florida, we recommend you come into the city a day prior to the event(s) you wish to attend.  Please click on Travel, Transit & Parking on the main page or on Accommodations on the Music Fest page for all travel needs.  AAA members may receive a discount.

The Music Fest is located in Tampa, Florida, at the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, Downtown Tampa, 600 N Ashley Drive, Tampa, Florida 33602.

Parking is available in the Poe Garage, closet to park and in other Garages located downtown, as well as hourly street parking throughout the downtown area.  Uber and Lyft ride drop offs is in a designated area near the park.

Gate Entry to the Music Fest is located on Ashley Street.

What items are permitted: 

  • Small bags and backpacks (All bags will be searched)
  • Wheelchairs and medical scooters
  • Strollers for children
  • Cell phones
  • Lawn chairs with low backs

What items are NOT permitted:  

  • Alcohol (All spirits are for sale on-site)
  • Illegal drugs
  • Glass containers or outside Steins
  • Coolers and thermoses
  • Umbrellas and tents (anything that can obstruct the view of others)
  • Large chairs with umbrellas on the back, large chairs with high backs
  • Video and audio recording equipment
  • Wagons, Skateboards and Segways
  • Weapons, illicit drugs and other contraband.

Outside food and beverages are not permitted.  We are a non-profit charity and solicit your support.  There are plenty of vendors within the park that offer a wide variety of food options at reasonable prices. Soda, juice, water, beer, wine and alcohol are available for purchase.

Tickets prices varies based the selected signature event.  Fees for the 2-Day Music vary based on seat selection. Children 12 and under are free.  Music Fest seating consist of General Admission, Preferred Seating and VIP Tented area.  Advance ticket purchases are highly recommended.  Some events may not allow for onsite sales.  Visit Events page for ticket prices.

Go to our website Home page and click on Travel, Transit & Parking or Events via the menu tab and click on Accommodations for travel packages.

AAA Travel Packages can be purchased via the website; or reach out to a travel agent of choice to make your flight reservations.  We recommend that you purpose airfare, at least, 30 days in advance for the best possible rates.

Yes, and free parking may be available at most of the Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival signature events (based on availability). You will incur a fee for parking downtown and in available Garages, for the Music Fest.  Parking is first come, first serve basis. 

Preferred seating at Music Fest comes with seating in a gated area, near the front of the stage, just behind the VIP seating.  First come, First serve.  Everyone entering the Park will receive a wristband.  

Cell phone camera are permitted. NO Drones are permitted.  If caught will be confiscated.  Audio and video recording devices are NOT permitted.

Yes, dogs are welcome at the Music Fest.  It’s an outdoor family event. 

The Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival is a family-friendly event and offers FREE admission for kid 12 and under.  We have a Children’s Village area with kid-friendly activities until 6pm Saturday and Sunday at the Music Fest.   One of our signature events is designated for the Youth, were young people take over the stage, express what cultural heritage means to them and learn about important matters that will educate them on being the best person they can be.

No unauthorized vending. TBBHF reserves the right to deny entry or remove from the festival anyone in violation of these policies.   The Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival reserves the right to sell all Beverages.  Vendors in violation of this will be removed and no refund will be issued.  Only good, positive, family fun is allowed during the Festival events.

Yes. The park is ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant.
